The structures we surround ourselves with have a impact on how we experience our lives. The language of building is important to this process, providing structures that are built with integrity and strength.

We create structures that symbolize the enduring beauty of this historically significant, sustainable building approach.

The history of timber framing is a rich one! Combining skills, honest work, local materials and an enthusiasm for building our community, we aim to carry on this tradition, another step in a lineage of the craft.
Nick Russell
Owner
Upon completing his B.A. in Music and Art History, Nick has devoted himself to the trades. From framework to architectural millwork, he worked as a carpenter and cabinetmaker for years, even running his own cabinet and millwork shop with a partner. As his interest in traditional building practices grew, timber framing became his obsession. He attended the Heartwood School, enrolling in classes in timber framing, timber frame design, and cruck framing, where he was taught the architecture of traditional building, with a focus on hand tools

An active member of the Timber Framers Guild, Nick has participated in many community builds and other timber frame projects. He places great value in the Guild, the community it represents and its importance on education and sharing this traditional craft.

Prior to opening Tall Pine, Nick worked as a highly valued craftsman for other timber frame shops, cutting and raising timber frames ranging from entryways and porches to large barns, houses and complex roof systems.

Tall Pine Timber Frames combines his passion for art, architecture, design and history with a drive to execute high levels of craftsmanship.
